Trundling Apostrophe

This one was built by taking the vibe from Ice Cream Van. That one was kinda busy so I used the track and replaced parts of it with new parts. I was pretty keen to use the gating technique from my last blog post taming the brute but I think I also managed not to over-do it.

There’s a section that popped out towards the end (somewhere just before 5:30), and even though I’d spent around an hour sculpting the sounds, I didn’t see it coming. It almost felt like being on a dancefloor and having the DJ hit you with something cool. This was the Volca Bass which was handling the high percussive synthline, and I kicked on the sustain. There’s also a shocker a bit after that there when I dropped the Minibrute back in but the level was way too high – the sort of thing that gathers a wry smile from the dancefloor and is quickly forgotten but gets immortalised in a recording.
